Family dining, festive tamburitzan music and great food and pastries will be on the agenda for next year’s St. Elijah SerbFest.
St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral is located at 8700 Taft (or Rt. 55, one mile south of Rt. 30), Merrillville. Admission and parking for the festival will be free.
An outdoor family dining atmosphere and theme is always emphasized complete with a beer garden and specialty foods including fresh barbecued lamb and pig, "cevaps" (spicy grilled sausages), sarma (stuffed cabbage) and other delicious entrees. In addition our SerbFest festival offers a variety of mouth-watering pastries including “krofne” (sugar-coated serbian donuts), homemade cookies, cakes, apple and cheese strudels and more. “We continue to emphasize this festival as a family-oriented event that features the finest in food, great music and hospitality,” according to the festival committee. Musically, live tamburitza music plays in the afternoons as well as the evenings and on Saturday night a live dancing “kolo” band plays in the Main Ballroom in addition to the tamburitzan music throughout.
Facepainting, a large video arcade, moonwalks and more will be available so bring the entire family and enjoy one of the best festivals in Southlake County!
